My Short Films

Throughout college, I was involved in a variety of projects. Here are a few of my favorites that highlight my experience in directing, editing, and more.

The Russian Cheez-It

Quite an interesting title, right? This short film is quite important to me, as it is a reflection of what I learned during my college career. In one of my introductory film courses, I made a short film with a group as my final. For my senior capstone film, I had to create a new version of the short film that highlighted the skills I gained throughout my courses.

This new version of the short film reflects improved camera quality, editing, audio, and more. While it is a bit strange and silly, it helped me recognize just how much I have learned over my three years as an undergraduate student and that there is always room to grow.

Wendy’s Training Segment

When I was involved with Quinnipiac Tonight, a show within Quinnipiac’s Q30 Television station, I was an associate producer that made skits for web promotion. During my time as a producer, I took scripts from the show’s writers and turned them into finished products that were displayed during the live shows.

Quinnipiac Tonight can be compared to Saturday Night Live, with a combination of pre-taped skits and live segments. Creating the skits made some of my favorite memories, as I enjoyed learning about various equipment and getting to know the members of the organization.

This segment was created in regard to Wendy’s recent viral tweets when they were roasting people on Twitter. It features some of the cast of Quinnipiac Tonight and was a fun time to create!

Among Us: An Exploration

This mini-documentary was a challenge for me in the idea that these types of videos have an element of storytelling that varies from narrative filmmaking, which personally made it more difficult for me to form a story. Initially, I wanted my interviewees to narrate the mini-doc in its entirety, but I realized there were no good transitions from one answer to the next. So, I decided to film myself to create introductions for each new topic. Furthermore, you can certainly never get too much b-roll; in hindsight, it is something I wish I filmed more of.

For this mini-doc, I chose to explore the popular game Among Us and why my friends gained interest in playing it. Additionally, they provide some background on the goal of the game and why they think it has grown in popularity. This was a fun project to make and I enjoyed working with my roommates to learn more about their thoughts on Among Us. I am certainly more interested in improving my skills to develop news features and documentaries, which are a type of filmmaking that highlight powerful storytelling.
